As your doula, my job is to provide support and encouragement for you and your partner through the birth process without interfering with your support of each other.
This is your birth and I am here to support you in whatever way I can. Think of me as an extra set of hands and an extra brain to think through what is happening and where to go from here. I can be there if your partner needs a break and you won’t be left alone. I can explain what is normal with birth and let it happen or what is not normal and what we can do to try to help. Everyone has an idea of what they would like their birth to be like. My goal is to help moms and their partners work through the birth process and try to achieve the experience they are hoping for. Sometimes issues come up that change the original plan. I have been working with birthing women since 1992, helping support them and their families/support systems with their original birth plan or helping anticipate and/or working with issues that might come up. I have worked with women having water births, unmedicated and medicated births, VBACs (Vaginal birth after cesarean section), inductions, cesarean sections, home births, birth center births and perinatal loss. I am a Traditional Health Worker (THW) for the Oregon Health Authority as a Birth Doula for Benton, Lincoln and Linn Counties. My number is THW0000970.
