Giving birth is one of the most challenging things you’ll do, but also one of the most worthwhile! As a doula, I listen attentively to my clients, learning their preferences and helping them prepare for labor and parenthood. I care for the whole person- physically, emotionally and spiritually, with things like encouragement and calming massage during labor, nutritious food during postpartum, and guidance with breastfeeding. I am a wife, a mother and a grandmother.
And I love my family! Now that my own children are grown, I have the time to devote to caring for others as they become parents. In my free time at home, I like to work and play outdoors—tending to my herb, vegetable, and flower gardens and cooking wholesome meals, which often find their way into my doula work. :-) It is so rewarding to reflect upon the birth experience together over a cup of herbal tea or a warm bowl of homemade soup!
Having lived in South and Central America during my youth, I also speak Spanish and greatly enjoy people of various cultures and ethnicities. I have 15 years experience as a certified Birth Doula with Childbirth International, and I am a licensed THW (Traditional Health Worker) with the State of Oregon. My services are covered by OHP: IHN, Open Card, and PacificSource. And I offer payment plans for self-pay clients.
