I was first inspired to become a doula in 1995 when I attended the birth of my niece. My sister told me that I was a natural and that I should pursue it as a career. The idea never left my mind and, after attending a few more births and my own children were older, I decided to look into training. I attended DONA training in 2011 and became certified in 2013.
Bringing a new life into the world can be one of the most exciting times of your life but it can also bring feelings of uncertainty and fear. I would be honored to have the opportunity to talk through your plans, fears, and dreams for your birth and give you the information and support you need to have the birth experience you desire.
I fully support your choice in however you decide to give birth. I have supported births both at home and in hospitals. I've attended water births, VBACs, inductions, medicated and non-medicated births.
Having a birth team that you trust is critical. My goal is to empower you and your birth team to work together to create an environment for a wonderful birth experience. I am there to encourage and support – never to replace a partner or loved one. I love to help partners and other team members find ways to feel valuable and supportive during this life-changing event.
I also am able to converse in the beginning levels of ASL and would work well with an interpreter or a team of interpreters.
I would love for the opportunity to chat with you and hear about your goals for your birth. Give me a call and we can set up a free consultation!
